S/V STRIDER 09 Winter Projects

Strider's 2008 sailing season was cut short by the need to get her in the shed before leaving for Canada and the R/V Rachel Carson sea trials and delivery. Although I missed the late fall sailing that I usually enjoy, it was kind of a luxury to have the boat safely tucked away and the shed secure before the weather turned. This year's projects won't be anywhere near the scale of last winter's major refit. I don't even have a plan and am just going to do one thing at a time instead of getting the boat so torn apart that finishing up by spring becomes an issue.

It isn't a winter picture but it is a reminder of why I do all this work each year.

It was quite a winter here on the coast of Maine but I was almost always comfortable in my solar heated boat shed. That big warehouse shelters it from the west winds and the other side is southern exposure. The snow is level was level wit hthe deck inside.
